The SEHEME e-learning platform

The new project platform has officially launched, offering a digital space for learners, educators, and institutions all over Europe. The platform aims to raise awareness and visibility towards the project results. In particular, the platform hosts the Foreign Language for Media Literacy e-course, which portrays how journalism and language learning can be combined to improve the competencies of language amongst migrants while also improving their
knowledge on the topic of journalism.

The e-course includes 8 different Modules. The first Module is ‘Introduction to Journalism and Media Literacy’, offering an introductory module to the e-course.

The second Module ‘Digital Journalism and Online Presence’ aims to inform immigrants what digital journalism is, how making and reading the news has changed overtime, as well as the effect of digitalization on journalism.

The third Module ‘Culture shock and homesickness’, aims to raise the cultural, linguistic and socio-political awareness of learners.

The fourth module ‘Accessing services and social provision’ covers the topics of Empowerment through rights awareness, navigating public services as well as active community participation.

The fifth module ‘Employment, Interview Techniques and Education’ aims to support immigrants in their search for employment, help them write their CV and their cover letter, as well as prepare for their job interview.

The sixth module ‘Loneliness, isolation, mental health’ covers the Causes for mental health issues among refugees and migrants and offers effective and efficient strategies to help them overcome mental health issues.

The seventh module ‘Discrimination and Legislation’ explores the dynamics and the multifaceted nature of different forms of discrimination, the legal frameworks designed to address it, and the existing statistics behind
discrimination.

The last module ‘Motivations and Accommodation Arrangements’ explains the reasons behind and motivation behind migration, the accommodation options they have in their new home country as well as vast challenges and barriers faced by immigrants when seeking accommodation.
