We all know that social media, and Mass Media in general play a massive role in shaping public perception and attitudes towards every matter that we can imagine, let alone in various social groups such as underrepresented minorities. In Europe, there is a growing recognition of the need for improvement towards the representation and portrayal of these minorities in the media narratives.

So, what are the challenges the Under-represented minorities face in Europe?

Under-represented minority groups, such as ethnic minorities, migrant women and children etc. face numerous challenges such as stereotypes and misrepresentation. These groups are often subjected to this in the media narrative, perpetuating biased narratives and reinforcing negative perceptions. Another challenge is the lack of visibility. Many Under- represented minorities struggle with a lack of visibility in mainstream media.

Their stories, experiences, and contributions are often overlooked, leading to a limited understating and recognition of their diverse perspectives. Another major challenge that these people face is the limited opportunities. Under-represented minorities face limited opportunities for participation in media production and decision-making processes. This lack of representation behind the scenes further hinders the authentic portrayal of their stories.
