ULusófona Receives Migrant Merit Award

2 November, 2023

The award recognises the work done to promote interculturality and equal opportunities for migrant students.

On September 15, Universidade Lusófona received another important award from the Lusofonia Culture and Citizenship Association at the Portuguese Parliament. The award recognizes the work carried out by our University to promote interculturalism and equal opportunities for migrant students.

The award was received by the Rector, Professor José Bragança de Miranda, and was attended by Professor Hélia Bracons, Associate Professor at the Institute of Social Work, who has been promoting this type of interaction between the University and civil society.

It is certainly a moment to remember for the distinction, but above all for the recognition of the mission that Lusófona University has undertaken for over 25 years of welcoming, supporting and showing hospitality to all those who need it, as is the case with migrants.

The Rector said that, with particular attention to our mission of supporting those from Lusophone communities, especially from Africa and Brazil, we have tried to integrate and support those who come to Portugal as a matter of special urgency, such as Syrian students, Afghan students and Ukrainian students, among many others.
